Annual Fund

Our Canton Academy annual fund is a yearly gift that provides a constant stream of income beyond tuition to boost programs and assist with materials in areas of the arts, technology, athletics, scholarships, capital improvements, and academics. This fund takes the pressure off current families to supply money for extras, and with this income, emergency situations are much less-likely to arise keeping Canton Academy in the current strong financial position and ensuring a bright, competitive future. Consider beginning or continuing your own tradition of giving through the CA Annual Fund where the giving never stops.

Stuart Smith Stadium Memorial

Canton Academy is pleased to announce its baseball stadium will be officially named Stuart Smith Stadium in a dedication ceremony to be held at the beginning of baseball season in 2017. Stuart’s grandparents, Shelby and Carolyn Smith, have provided a “Lead Gift” so that the stadium may undergo renovations and improvements that will position it as one of the top private school stadiums in the state and one that will be befitting of the memory of Stuart Smith. Some of Stuart’s many significant accomplishments and memorable moments took place in the baseball stadium so it is appropriate that the newly upgraded stadium should bear his name. Others who wish to honor the memory of Stuart by making a contribution to the Stuart Smith Baseball Stadium Upgrades Project should contact Annette Harreld, Director of Development, at Canton Academy. She can be reached by phone at (601) 317-0400 or by e-mail at aharreld@cantonacademy.org

There were significant upgrades made to the baseball field and portions of the baseball complex in 2004-05 when the field was dedicated to the beloved Jim Butchart, long time contributor and supporter of Canton Academy baseball. Jim Butchart Field and Stuart Smith Stadium will provide present and future baseball players an opportunity to compete in a first class baseball facility for many years to come.

The dedication of the stadium date will be announced as soon as the MAIS releases the baseball schedule for the 2017 season.

Why Give to Canton Academy?

Every Canton Academy donor is a crucial link in the success of our school and we are so grateful for the generous gifts Canton Academy has received.

With your continued support we are able to offer our students an outstanding Christian education. As you can imagine, tuition alone does not cover the cost of a complete education offered at Canton Academy, nor does it cover the day to day operational expenses of the school. We depend on your generous donations to make that happen!

There are many ways to donate to Canton Academy. Whether through capital campaign projects, annual giving, or endowment support, your giving makes an immediate impact on Canton Academy.

  • The Annual Fund provides additional money for the gap between tuition revenue and the actual cost of educating a student at Canton Academy. Tuition alone does not cover the cost of educating a child at Canton Academy. Nor does it cover faculty professional growth, financial assistance, capital improvements or day to day operating expenses. There are many reasons why annual giving is so important to Canton Academy. It is unrestricted, which means your gift goes directly to the school and it’s programs. And, annual giving is just that — annual. By making contributions from year to year, alumni, parents, and friends provide a consistent stream of support for academic and extracurricular programs.  Gifts to the annual fund are tax deductible.
  • Gifts to the Capital Campaign.  Capital gifts are often used to help finance the construction of new facilities and the renovation and expansion of existing buildings. These gifts are usually structured with several payments over several years.
