Lower School

Welcome from the Principal

Welcome to Canton Academy Lower School! I’m so grateful to serve a school where children are known, loved, and encouraged to grow academically, spiritually, socially, and physically.

At Canton Academy, we believe each child is uniquely created by God, and our goal is to nurture hearts and challenge minds in a Christian environment. This mission inspires everything we do—from classroom learning to Chapel to student leadership opportunities.

Start the Day Together

Each morning, our Lower School students lead student-led announcements, including:

  • Pledge of Allegiance
  • Mission Statement Recitation
  • Birthday Celebrations
  • Bible Verse
  • Prayer

This tradition sets a positive tone for the day, keeps Christ at the center, and gives students—even the youngest—confidence, public speaking experience, and meaningful leadership roles.

Academic Excellence

We serve students in K3–5th grade and use the Bob Jones University Press (BJU Press) curriculum. Students are challenged in reading, math, science, history, and language arts, all taught through a biblical worldview. Our goal is to provide a strong foundation of faith and learning for every child.

Beyond the Classroom

Our enrichment programs help students grow in creativity, exploration, and faith:

  • Bible – Learn Scripture and how to live out faith daily.
  • Music – Experience rhythm, melody, and worship.
  • Art – Explore creativity and reflect God’s handiwork.
  • Library – Discover quality literature and cultivate a love of reading.
  • Physical Education (PE) – Build healthy habits, teamwork, and sportsmanship.
  • STEM – Engage in hands-on activities that promote curiosity, problem-solving, and innovation.

Chapel is a highlight each week:

  • K3–K4 students enjoy Chapel tailored for their age, with stories, songs, and prayer.
  • K5–5th grade students gather weekly to sing praise and worship songs and hear God’s Word from a local pastor or minister.

A Place to Belong

From K3 through 5th grade, students at Canton Academy are part of a loving, Christ-centered community. We encourage children to do their best, care for others, and grow in faith.

It is my prayer that our Lower School will be a place where your child feels at home, flourishes in learning, and grows in their walk with Christ.

With joy in Christ,
Dawn Blanton
Lower School Principal
