Newsletter: January 2024

Happy New Year to all.  We hope that you enjoyed a restful break with family and friends. We are blessed to have six new students join us today – Welcome to the Panther family! We are looking forward to a great semester with lots of good things headed our way.

Our MSAIS and Cognia accreditation, which happens every five years, will take place in February. Thanks to all of the families who answered our random accreditation survey. We are proud of our great school, but we are also always looking to improve in ways suggested by our community.

Recently, we have been improving and upgrading our internet services and overall technology. Canton Academy has the fastest fiber optics in the Canton area, and this past year we added 80 new devices to the elementary building. We are committed to having a proper balance between traditional learning methods and technological ones.  However, with the constant changes in technology that affect every facet of our lives now, particularly educationally, we are tasked with keeping up with those changes and improvements. The goal to continually improve in this area in 2024 is very important to our administration in order to ensure that our students are prepared for life beyond Canton Academy.

Speaking of improvements and changes, we are excited to announce that our ACT super scores have consistently been on the rise. We have more and more students every year qualifying for various scholarships, and Canton Academy students are thriving in both college life and technical careers.

Don’t miss the remaining opportunities to support our basketball teams. The Panthers are on the road to Oak Hill today and will play at home again tomorrow vs. Winston Academy beginning at 4:00. Come cheer on your Panthers! Our spring sports will begin soon, and that means our annual baseball Boston butt fundraiser is coming up. Don’t miss this opportunity to support the team and have a great meal for your family. This Saturday our indoor track team will travel to compete in a meet at LSU. Go Panthers!

We are excited that our yearbook staff decided to try something a little different this year by hosting our 2024 Who’s Who and Beauty Review at the Madison Square Center for the Arts at 2103 Main Street in Madison on January 19 (lower school) and 20th (upper school) . A large part of our student and staff population is from the city of Madison, and we are thankful they chose our community for schooling and/or career. With that being said, we are happy to accommodate them logistically this year. Our yearbook staff wanted to give it a try for a year, and all of our students are excited to experience a new venue. The change of venue also allows our basketball teams to be able to continue to practice on campus, saves money on studio light and sound equipment rentals, provides more private dressing areas, and offers  more comfortable seating for our families and friends. We hope that our Canton Academy community will attend this event and support our fantastic, award-winning CA Reflections yearbook staff. Proceeds from Who’s Who and Beauty Review are a big factor in the staff publishing a stellar yearbook each year.

Lastly, don’t forget to save the date for our annual Soiree and Drawdown on Saturday, April 20 at Butterfly Hill. This fun social gathering never disappoints! More details to come soon.

We are already off to a great start in 2024 and look forward to all the exciting things happening at Canton Academy.
