It’s hard to believe August is behind us, and we are already settled into the 2024-2025 school year. We are looking forward to cooler temperatures ahead and all the things that come with fall at CA. This week is homecoming week with lots of activities leading up to the big day on Friday.
Some things to put on your calendar for this week:
- Make plans to come watch our Lady Panthers softball team play Oak Hill on Tuesday, September 3 (home) and Wednesday (away) at 5:00 and 6:30.
- Our elementary and junior high football teams will play at Benton on Thursday at 5:00 and 6:30.
- Friday, September 6 is homecoming day. The court parade will be in front of the school that morning at 10:30 immediately followed by the homecoming pep rally. School will dismiss after the pep rally. We hope you will all join us that evening before the game at 5:30-6:30 for a Penn’s all-you-can-eat fish fry. CA alumni eat free, and we will be serving additional all-you-can-eat plates for $25. Your Panthers take on West Memphis Christian School at 7:00pm. At halftime, we will draw for the Scott Penn Memorial gun raffle, and someone will take home a new Savage Axis XP 243 rifle. Tickets are $30 each or 4/$100. Contact the high school office for details and support this great cause!
As always, we look forward to seeing our alumni and patrons on homecoming day. We hope you will bring your family and friends and join us for the festivities.
Make plans to attend our Annual Patron Meeting on Wednesday, September 11 at 6pm. We will hold our annual board member election that night.
The annual Canton Academy Parents Auxiliary golf cart raffle is underway. Don’t forget to purchase your tickets from a Canton Academy student, either school office or the CAPA table at home football games. Tickets are $20 each or 6 for $100. Stop by the office or any home football game to see the golf cart that will be given away next month.
I want to take a moment to remind you of our school mission statement: “With a bold vision for the future, Canton Academy exists to nurture hearts and challenge minds in a Christian environment.” We take pride in our environment and consider it a daily calling to maintain the atmosphere for which we are known. Our faculty and administration have made great strides in recent years to be sure that our students are as competitive in the classroom as they are on any playing field. We are proud of the academic rigor our staff maintains. They are encouraged to challenge your children in the classroom. The goal is not to make school more difficult, but to build on the concepts students have learned, push them to use critical thinking skills, and teach them to apply their knowledge to whatever they are facing, whether an assignment, an opposing team, or a life struggle.
We truly appreciate your support and trust. Your children are our number one priority and they are the reason we come to work every day.
Go, Panthers!
