Last week, Canton Academy upper school celebrated our annual Spiritual Emphasis Week, hosted by local
churches and pastors.

Each day, speakers focused on this year’s theme, “Run Through the Tape,” based on Hebrews 12:1-2, which says, “Therefore, since we are surrounded by such a great cloud of witnesses, let us throw off everything that hinders and the sin that so easily entangles. And let us run with perseverance the race marked out for us, fixing our eyes on Jesus, the pioneer and perfecter of faith. For the joy set before Him He endured the cross, scorning its shame, and sat down at the right hand of the throne of God.” We want to thank everyone involved in Spiritual Emphasis Week. Whether you were a speaker, an organizer, or a volunteer, each of you encouraged administration, faculty and students to finish strong by keeping our eyes on our Savior.

We are very proud of our Panther basketball teams this season. The girls’ team won the district tournament, and both varsity teams competed hard in the North State Tournament.

These student athletes represented our school extremely well, and we want to congratulate both teams on a great season. The JV boys basketball team won the district championship, and the JV girls finished second—congratulations also to both of these teams on an outstanding season. A big thank you to Coach Jonathan Bates for organizing both the District and North State Basketball Tournaments, and countless thanks to all of the staff, coaches, board members, and parents who pitched in to help make both tournaments a success. Special congratulations goes to Kyris Oscar for being selected to
the MAIS Basketball All-Star Team. We are proud of you, Ky!

We are also excited to announce that our elementary students will be performing Madagascar: A Musical Adventure on March 27th and 28th. This is especially exciting as we are in the beginning stages of developing a performing arts program at the elementary level, with hopes of expanding it into the high school in the future. Please make a point to support these students by purchasing tickets to a show.

Be on the lookout for information about our upcoming Drawdown. This is one of our largest fundraisers and plays a vital role in supporting school improvements, including campus security, curriculum enhancements, and other necessary upgrades.

The Drawdown is always a great event and will be held at Butterfly Hill on April 11th from 6:00 p.m. to 9:00 p.m., with entertainment provided by Silver and Lace, a popular cover band featuring a mix of classic songs you know and love.

Baseball season is underway, so be sure to check the schedule and come out to support your Panthers. We appreciate everyone who participated in the team’s recent Boston butt fundraiser.

We want to congratulate Tillie Oglesbee for joining the 1000 point club and on having an outstanding career for Panthers Basketball. Please continue to watch our social media for updates and information on upcoming events, and don’t forget to complete re-enrollment before new student enrollment begins on February 18.
