Newsletter: October 2025

It’s hard to believe we are already wrapping up the first nine weeks of the school year! Canton Academy has a busy and exciting month ahead, and we want to share some great news and upcoming events with you.

First, congratulations to these athletic teams for their outstanding achievements:

  • The Softball team was the runner-up in the North State tournament and is now competing for the state championship in Magee beginning tomorrow, Saturday, October 4, with the first game at 9:00 a.m. We are very proud of the girls and their coaches. Make the short drive to Magee to cheer on the Lady Panthers!
  • Both our Peewee and JV football teams have won their district championships! This is a great group of hardworking young men and coaches. We also must recognize the peewee and JV cheer squads who have cheered them on all season. Way to go, Panthers!

Other sports news: The Panther cross country team is having a great season and will wrap it up at the end of this month with the state meet on October 27 at Choctaw Trails. We are excited that the Panther Chess Team has begun practicing and will start their season very soon! Tonight our varsity Panthers take on Leake Academy, with kick off at 7:00 pm. Come to campus to cheer on the Panthers and see our adorable Prissy Panther Cheer Squad perform at halftime.

Next Thursday will begin our annual fall break. Enjoy the Canton Flea Market on Thursday, and join us on campus that night at 5:00 and 6:30 for the elementary and junior football games against Greenville St. Joe. Varsity Panthers will be away that Friday night at North Delta School. Enjoy the five-day break from school, and we will resume on Tuesday, October 14, just in time for the CAPA Harvest Festival.

Our annual Harvest Festival will take place on October 14. This is an event open to the community, and we would love to have you, your children, and their friends join us at 5:30 pm that evening. Anyone interested in hosting a trunk-or-treat, for this event, please contact capapres@cantonacademy.org.

We invite you to join us for our annual Homecoming festivities on Friday, October 17. Here is the timeline:

  • The day begins with the court parade at 10:30 a.m. in front of the school, followed by the homecoming pep rally where the court will be introduced (school-wide dismissal to follow).
  • Alumni events will begin at 5:30 PM, featuring delicious tailgate food catered by Chillway. Alumni eat free of charge, and the food cost for non-alumni is $20.
  • The graduating classes of 2014 and 2015 will be on campus to celebrate their 10-year reunions. We are excited to have these alumni and their families on our campus!
  • The high school building will be open from 5:30-7:00 PM for alumni interested in taking a trip down memory lane.
  • At 7:00 pm, the varsity Panther football team will take on River Oaks.
  • Homecoming court and queen crowning will take place at halftime.                                                                                                                                                                                                                      Please come out to support our student-athletes and celebrate homecoming with the CA community!

We’re also excited to announce that this year’s CA Parents Auxiliary Golf Cart Raffle was very successful! Congratulations to the winner of this year’s golf cart, Mike Grove, a CA supporter who purchased his raffle ticket at the Country Club of Canton annual 4-ball tournament. This event helps support the needs of our teachers and school, and we appreciate everyone who participated including CAPA officers and members who made it happen.

Looking ahead, we will be launching our first CA Booster Club Sportsman Raffle in November, featuring fantastic prizes to be drawn in December. Please keep an eye out for more information and see students for tickets.

Thank you for your continued support of Canton Academy—we wouldn’t be the great school we are without YOU!
