Newsletter: July 2024

It is hard to believe that we are halfway through 2024, and we are only about a month away from the start of the 2024-2025 school year. While you have hopefully been enjoying the summer break and a slower pace, we have been busy on campus with standard summer projects but also some much needed upgrades and sprucing. CA parent Greg Smith and his team with Thinline, Inc. have completed painting most of the buildings on campus, and you will see a noticeable difference when you return. Many of the classrooms and other interior rooms have also been painted by staff and additional volunteers. Daily shipments of new curriculum for all grades are being delivered after our Board of Directors approved funds to better streamline learning materials for a smoother continuum as students advance to each grade level. New Musco lighting is being installed at the football field, and the old concession stand and bathrooms under the home stands are being torn down under the leadership of Coach Ben WIlliams and with the help of our entire coaching staff. We are excited to welcome you back to campus very soon so that you can enjoy these improvements.

Since we only have a few weeks of summer left, we want to remind students to complete summer reading. The elementary school has posted hours for students wanting to take Accelerated Reading tests this summer. For summer reading assignments, please see our website, cantonacademy.org, and click on “Academics” for information by grade. Also, be sure to order your school uniforms from Dennis Uniform as soon as possible to ensure delivery by the start of school.

Don’t forget to check last week’s email from Jonathan Bates for information on our Panther Partner Corporate Sponsorship Program. We hope that you will join our other faithful patrons in becoming a Panther Partner to help CA continue to make needed improvements in all areas of campus life. In order to grow and expand our extracurricular activities including academic clubs, girls’ athletics, and philanthropic causes, we largely depend on our loyal volunteers and patrons. Becoming a Panther Partner is also a great way to advertise your business in multiple ways and receive other perks like preferred parking and all-sports passes. Please contact Jonathan Bates at jbates@cantonacademy.org for further information.

Join this fun, pep-rally style kick-off for our school year.

Our school campus and the Country Club of Canton have been buzzing with student athletes all summer long. Teammates from every sport, including our new elementary swim team, have been putting in a lot of work preparing for the 2024-2025 season. The start of fall sports is right around the corner, including softball, cross country, and football. Make plans to join us throughout the year to support our student athletes, most of whom train year round to be ready to take the field, trail, track or course.

We hope you and your family enjoy some time off this week for the Fourth of July. Remember all the reasons we have to be proud to live in such a great country, including the freedoms we enjoy that are not typical in most other parts of the world. We have so much to be grateful for.
